T4, T5, T4A, T5018, T4-NR
T4 -The T4 is a Statement of Remuneration Paid, is a document that summarizes all of the money paid by an employer to an employee during a calendar year. Not only does it include how much income you earned, but it also shows how much you have contributed to Employment Insurance (EI), Canada Pension Plan (CPP), and how much tax you’ve already paid for the year (i.e. amounts deducted at source).
T5 – The T5 is the Statement of investment income slip can include interest, dividends, and certain foreign income.
T4A -The T4A is a Statement of Pension, Retirement, Annuity, and Other Income. If you have received any self-employment income throughout the past year, you report it as a T4A vs. T4.
T5018 -The T5018, also known as the Statement of Contract Payments, is the CRA taxpayer slip designed for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and corporations in the construction business. If construction activities and payments account for more than 50% of your business income, the CRA expects you to file a T5018 slip. You must also report all amounts awarded to subcontractors, whether paid by cash, cheque, barter or other offsets including any GST/HST or provincial/territorial sales tax, if applicable. If the sub-contractor operates from Canada, you must fill the T5018, which consists of a summary and one slip. You need to complete this return, and these slips, if you have paid more than $500 to your subcontractors for construction services in the calendar tax year, not your fiscal year.
T4-NR – T4A-NR – Statement of Fees, Commissions, or Other Amounts Paid to Non-Residents for Services Rendered in Canada slip for Non-Residents you may have hired as subcontractors. All of the money you report on this slip must be in Canadian dollars, even if you paid it in another currency.
you have to provide a copy of the above slips to the recipient before February 28th, as they require them for their income tax returns.
